Bake with Love: Age UK K&C Valentine’s Gala

Founders of Summerill & Bishop, June and Bernadette, Summerill and Bishop believed the dining table, where you gather for meals and celebrations with those you love, are where the best memories are made.  That’s why every year, Summerill & Bishop join up with EARNT to help deliver the best table ever for the guests at the Age UK Kensington & Chelsea Valentine’s Day Gala.

We can’t do it without you.

Roses are Red…..and Pink and….

What says Valentine’s Day more than roses? This year, EARNT x Summerill & Bishop is rose-themed, inspired by the climbing beauty of rambling roses. Think hidden gardens, sunlit pathways, and petals unfurling in quiet splendour.

Every year, we come together to support Age UK Kensington & Chelsea’s Valentine’s Day Gala for over 400 members of their community. It’s an afternoon tea with music, dancing and companionship. The members bring the vibe, YOU bring the cakes.

Everyone who takes part will earn a set of 4 napkins from the Rose Trellis collection. There will also be a prize for the best baker who will receive the matching tablecloth for their Valentine’s Day delight.

HOW IT WORKS

We need enough treats to feed 450 people. Think cakes, cookies, tarts, or whatever makes your heart sing but this year-let’s make them rose-themed (if you can).

You need to bake TWO large cakes or tray bakes OR TWO batches (1 batch = 12 pieces) of buns or tarts, or brownies (or you can mix and match and do 1 cake and 12 individual small bakes).

Whatever you make, they must be homemade, beautiful and delicious.

WHERE & WHEN?

Drop off is Thursday 12th February between 12.30 and 3pm

@ Summerill & Bishop, 100 Portland Road, W11

FAQs

What should I bake?

Anything sweet and rose and love themed!

Red velvet cake covered with rose petals you say? Heart shaped brownies??? Funfetti, sprinkles and lots of pink icing not only welcome but encouraged!  Nuts are best avoided.

No shop bought cakes.

Please include a note with the ingredients and list any allergens. Vegan and gluten free cakes are very welcome!

How much love am I actually baking?

We are asking for two items with one item being either a cake or a batch of cookies/brownies etc (min 12).

If you want to make more-of course you are very, very welcome!

Do I need special packaging?

No but please note we cannot return any of the packaging so only use items you are happy to part with.

Please also label your bakes so we know who baked it (for the Best Bake) and again, we also ask that you include a list of ingredients so we can be aware of any allergens.

How do I find out if I won Best Bake?

The best bake is chosen by special members of Age UK K&C and once decided we will email you to let you know.

II can’t join in but how can I help Age UK K&C?

We love your enthusiasm and YES!

You can donate to Age UK here and if you want to continue helping out in real life, Age UK K&C host lots of activities including a 70’s disco, bingo and even football with Chelsea Football Club and they need more volunteers so please contact the gorgeous Teresa on volunteer@aukc.org.uk OR you can sign up through EARNT’s Always On and volunteer diretly at a time that suits you.

Cancellations

Life happens, if you do sign up but for some reason can’t make it, please let us know as soon as possible so we can find someone else to make some lovely cakes for the guests at the gala.  It’s not us you’ll be letting down, it means we won’t have enough cake and that will make everyone cry.
